(Freebase)

Sunoco Logistics Partners said Thursday that it plans to start constructing its $2.5 billion Mariner East 2 project by the end of 2016 along the route of its existing 70,000 barrels-per-day Mariner East 1. The pipeline is expected to carry up to 275,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays to the company's Marcus Hook Industrial Complex in Philadelphia. The project would boost the entire system's capacity to 345,000 barrels of NGL per day. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (11/6), The Philadelphia Inquirer (11/7)

Concrete shortage continues in Upper Midwest

(Karen Bleier /AFP /Getty Images)

Contractors in Minnesota are seeking help from Gov. Mark Dayton because of a concrete shortage in the region. Part of the problem is that rail cars are now filled with petroleum products from the Bakken Shale region instead of materials to make the concrete and part is that giant projects like the new Vikings stadium and the St. Croix River bridge are given a higher priority, they say. The contractors are asking Dayton to lift the limit on how many hours concrete-truck drivers can work. KMSP-TV (Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.) (11/6)
